AIRPORT DRIVE/STEELE CREEK STORMWATER ENHANCEMENT PROJECT
JOHN HOLLAND GROUP
This project involved a major extension of Airport Drive which improved access to Melbourne Airport and significantly eased road congestion in and around the aviation precinct. The $100 million extension of Airport Drive and enhancement of Steele Creek North project included a 100,000m³ flood detention basin being built to protect the residents living downstream from flooding.
A 7000m² sedimentation basin with a rain garden was also constructed. One of the largest in Australia, allowing the runoff from the airport area to be treated to best practice standards.
As one of the state’s largest stormwater harvesting projects, the scheme produces over 130 megalitres of treated stormwater per year.
TFC was contracted to deliver all formwork and concreting for the retarding basins and spillways
Additional TFC contracted work on the project included over 16,000 sqm of shared user path.
Scope of Works included building complex formwork structures, managing additional subcontractors, pouring significant quantities of concrete on continuous days, and ensuring to deliver our contract by the deadline.
