Gnarwarre Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
Chief Group Solutions
FRV Services Australia (FRV) are building a 250MW/500MWh Battery Energy Storage System near Gnarwarre in Victoria. The project aims to assist the national electrical network to compensate for times of peak demand and energy oversupply.
The project consists of approximately 112 BESS units installed across a 7-hectare site and will connect to the existing 220 kV overhead transmission line adjacent to the site. The layout has been created to avoid most environmental constraints and is designed to minimise the removal of native vegetation.
Toohey’s Form-Crete was contracted to deliver the civil concrete package including:
FRP Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) equipment foundations
FRP Medium Voltage Power Station (MVPS) foundations
FRP Ancillary and Miscellaneous Foundations
Supply and Installation of reinforcement
Installation and stripping of formwork to above structures
Pouring and finishing of all concrete
